STEM CLASS CONDUCTED FOR BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Categories: News

With grant support from the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie, our Chapter delivered The First Tee STEM curriculum to a group of 20 children from the Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County at PopStroke in Port St. Lucie.

PopStroke recently opened their doors in Tradition where they have an amazing new facility with state-of-the-art technology. For 5 weeks, children had the opportunity to learn about STEMScience, Technology, Engineering and Math and how they relate to the game of golf and the anatomy of the golf course. Participants experimented with topics such as how different elements produce friction on the golf ball while in motion and the transition of energy throughout the golf swing.

Participants also got to view the interfacings of a golf ball and common insects found on the golf course, all while utilizing amazing technology that Popstroke has to offer. The students were amazed by the technology behind their state-of-the-art virtual golf simulators and massive 36-hole miniature golf course.

The program was capped off by a pizza party courtesy of Big Apple Pizza in Ft. Pierce. We are truly grateful to all our donors and programming partners for their ongoing support in bringing programs like this to the children in our community.
